NARRATIVE:

Portsmouth have only scored more than one goal on one occasion though the visitors ended a potential hat trick for the home side when winning 3-0 at Goodison in August last season. Portsmouth went on to achieve the double over the Toffees for the first time so they should go into this year

Everton vs Portsmouth – (Sunday 4.00pm)

In terms of their final league positions for the season then both Everton & Portsmouth will finish where are they are now in 8th & 20th respectively no matter the result here so only pride left to play for.
David Moyes is a totally determined & committed manager who wants demands that his players give everything in every single match so we fully expect Everton to take their strong finish to the season into this final match & give the Everton fans the win they deserve.

Everton have been excellent at home in recent months & basically impossible to beat and to be fair we don’t really expect anything other than a comfortable home win for Everton in this one.

Portsmouth have the F.A. Cup Final to focus on & with injuries a big issue for them they are unlikely to play their best players and so this looks a clear opportunity for Everton to finish the season with a flourish & makes them a rock solid bet to get another home win.

NARRATIVE:

Fulham’s woeful record at Goodison Park is best summed up by the fact that the visitors have yet to lead at half time and have lost all eight games. Holding the home team at bay until the break on just three occasions, Fulham proceeded to concede goals at an alarming rate during the second period of play. The fact that Everton have only completed the double over their London rivals on one occasion suggests that Everton were nearly as bad in the return encounter. Doubles: Everton 1—-Fulham 0

Blackburn Rovers vs Everton – (Saturday 3.00pm)

Fascinating battle in prospect here with Blackburn Rovers now safe & a very solid home record to defend taking on a bang in form Everton side looking for three points so should be a good, competitive contest.
Blackburn Rovers have based their season entirely on their home form with 33 of their 43 points coming at home & only 2 defeats in 17 home matches clearly indicates Blackburn’s strength at home.

In recent weeks Blackburn Rovers have held Chelsea & Manchester United to draws here & they will certainly believe they can do at least the same here although obviously this will be a tough challenge given the confident form that Everton are in right now.

Blackburn Rovers are not the most fluent attacking side but they are dangerous & we expect them to be more positive in this game than they were against Manchester United last weekend with set-pieces likely to be their biggest threat again.

Despite failing to convert three 2-1 leads into victories recently against Birmingham City, West Ham & Aston Villa, Everton have been playing very well & certainly arrive at Ewood Park in confident & determined mood with David Moyes wanting as many wins as possible before the end of the season.

Everton are chasing a potential european place & they need to win every remaining game to achieve that so we really do expect them to be very positive in this match.

This is a tough game to call with the local rivalry, both teams confident, Blackburn very strong at home & Everton strong anywhere at the moment & admittedly a scoring draw is a very tempting option but we feel Everton are a value punt to get another massive away win here with Cahill again likely to be the inspiration.

Betting Recommendations:

Outright Match Result: Everton to win

Correct Score options: Everton to win 2-0/2-1

Scorecast options: Cahill/Saha/Yakubu Everton to win 2-0/2-1

Aston Villa vs Everton – (Wednesday 7.45pm)

Aston Villa have suffered blow after blow in the last month & the last thing they need is to come up against a strong & in form Everton side so this is all set up to be a really intense & competitive match.
Heavy blows of defeats in the Carling Cup Final, F.A. Cup Semi Final & with 4th place slipping away from their grasp, it has been really tough for Aston Villa & they now look like a tired & drained side so this is going to be really tough for them.

The defeat against Chelsea in the Cup Semi Final was another heavy blow & confidence within the Aston Villa side must be draining away just like their physical energy levels have done in recent games but they have to bounce back against Everton here in front of their own fans.

With 4th place seemingly gone & most probably 5th & 6th out of their reach, 7th place is what Aston Villa have to look to secure & Everton are their only dangers for that so that adds an extra competitive edge to this match.

The gap between Aston Villa & Everton is 4 points & Aston Villa have a game in hand but a win here for Everton will take the gap to 1 point and pile more pressure on Aston Villa for the remainder of the season.

Aston Villa have got the talent to compete with teams & certainly gave Chelsea a very good game in the first half but their major weakness is that their game is based on high energy, direct play with long balls down the channels & they do quite obviously tire as a unit which then makes them vulnerable in the latter part of their matches.

David Moyes wants & is indeed demanding that Everton finish the season as strongly as possible & he will want his players to respond positively to the disappointment of only drawing with West Ham in the last game when they really should have won.

That performance against West Ham lacked quality & tempo and we certainly expect David Moyes to have the Everton players fully pumped up for this & determined to go to Aston Villa to get a result & indeed the win will be on their minds.

Everton have beaten the likes of Chelsea, Man United & Man City in recent months and will certainly believe that with the likes of Saha, Cahill, Arteta & Yakubu they can go to Aston Villa, physically compete with them & more them match them for quality so this really does look set to be a really tough battle & hard to call.

The other motivation for David Moyes is that he will want to start to put right what is a pathetic record for Everton at Aston Villa, & while many will see that as the potential key to this match in favour of Aston Villa, we feel David Moyes will use that to make the Everton players compete for absolutely everything.

This is fascinating game in prospect as Martin O’Neill will want Aston Villa to respond & put on a show for the home fans & David Moyes always wants to win so it’s a tight call & a scoring draw is very tempting but we are going to take a value punt on Everton getting another big away win here with Cahill, Arteta & Saha to show their quality.
