2010-2011 table relating to London derby matches relating to the four teams that survived the Premier League:
11 points Tottenham: W3–D2–L1 (11-9)
11 points Chelsea: W3–D2–L1 (7-5)
8 points Arsenal: W2–D2–L2 (12-12)
2 points Fulham: W0–D2–L4 (4-8)
Although Tottenham had a good season, what still separates them from Chelsea and Arsenal is their results against lesser teams.
If we take games against West Ham for instance, Tottenham secured just 1 point (0-1).
By comparison, Chelsea and Arsenal both achieved maximum points against the Hammers, producing an aggregate goal difference of 10-1 for good measure.
Chelsea’s downfall was their lack of goals in these local fixtures, scoring five less than Arsenal despite securing three more points than the Gunners.
Arsenal fell victim to their greatest rivals, securing just one point against Tottenham in two high scoring matches (5-6).
Although Fulham lost four games, they did so by just a one goal margin in each instance. To complete the West Ham scenario relating to these derby games, Fulham gained just one point against their relegated rivals (2-4).
Just in case you guys thought that Arsenal ‘finishing third’ was a ‘one-off’, the Gunners also finished third in this sector the year before, and fourth of the four related teams the previous year (2008-2009), when the only match they won was at Fulham when scoring the only goal of the game.
